information you provide on this site. As such, we would like you to
know how we use the personal information you disclose to us. All information
is handled with the utmost discretion.
Collection
of Personal Information
The
only personal information collected through our Web site is information
that is submitted to us voluntarily and knowingly by site visitors.
When you simply browse our site, no personal information is collected
by failuremag.com.
Some functions
and services offered on our site require that you provide certain
personal information. For example, when you order a product, enter
a contest or sweepstakes, or register for a mailing list, we may need
your postal or e-mail address.

for Adult Users
Information
voluntarily submitted by users may be used for marketing and promotional
purposes by failuremag.com. Unless you designate otherwise or we state
otherwise in this policy or at the time the information is collected,

sign up ("Opt-In") to receive a failuremag.com newsletter
by e-mail, you will receive periodic announcements from failuremag.com.
We collect subscribers e-mail addresses in order to distribute
newsletters/announcements and do not share them with any outside companies.
Users can choose to unsubscribe ("Opt-Out") from failuremag.com
newsletters at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions
found at the bottom of each e-mail or by sending an e-mail with "Unsubscribe"
in the Subject box to: enewsletter@failuremag.com.

e-mail messages from failuremag.com is optional. You may choose not
to receive e-mail, even after granting prior permission, or you may
wish to correct information you previously provided. If you do not
wish to receive e-mail or wish to correct information you previously

Failuremag.com
will use reasonable efforts to delete records or alter records in
our database when we receive requests to do so. However, because of
possible retention of a residual copy in a system backup file, we
cannot guarantee deletion or alteration in every instance.

Forums
Whenever
you voluntarily disclose personal information online in message boards
or similar posting areas, the information can be reviewed and collected
by anyone. Therefore, you should not post any information that you
do not want to be made available to the general public. Failuremag.com
is not responsible for unsolicited communications that arise from
your postings on this site.

to the Editor

information provided by a user along with or in connection with a
letter to the editor will only be used to verify the identity of the
writer (should we need to) in connection with the publication of a
letter. We do not retain this information, nor do we sell, trade,

contact you prior to posting a letter to the editor on the site.

Letters
e-mailed to our authors are sent directly to the authors e-mail
address and copied to the editor-in-chief of failuremag.com. Should
the editor of Failure magazine wish to publish a letter addressed
to an author, an editor will contact you directly to request your
permission. Again, failuremag.com does not retain this information,
nor do we sell, trade, or disclose it to any third parties. By contract,
all of failuremag.coms freelance writers are prohibited from
retaining, selling, trading or disclosing your contact information
to any third parties.
Purchase
of products from the Failure Store
Failure
magazine operates an online store at failuremag.com. In the course
of processing orders, we will necessarily collect information from
you (including your credit card number and contact information), for
the purpose of filling customer orders. We do not share any of this
information with any other companies, individuals, or third party
firms except those directly involved in helping us complete the transaction
and deliver the order. Credit card numbers submitted through our Web
site are used for payment purposes only, and not for marketing purposes.
Promotion
From
time to time, failuremag.com may sponsor sweepstakes, contests, free
product samples from advertisers, or other events that require the
collection, processing and storage of individual contact and demographic
information to be used for the promotion. Failuremag.com may also
co-sponsor these events with other companies, in which case the users
individual contact and demographic information may, in some cases,
be shared with the participating sponsor(s). Failuremag.com requests
that co-sponsors of any events uphold the privacy of registrants
information. In cases where contact and demographic information is
not shared with co-sponsors, the information may be shared with an
outside fulfillment house whose sole purpose is to deliver product
samples or other materials. Otherwise, a registrants personal
contact and demographic information will not be released by failuremag.com
to any third-party or non-participating organization.

polls on our Web site are anonymous. We do not correlate votes submitted
via such polls with names or e-mail addresses.
Use of
IP Addresses
An IP
address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer
whenever you are surfing the Web. Web servers automatically identify
your computer by its IP address. When a user requests pages from our
site, our servers log the users IP address. The addresses are
collected for the purposes of system administration and to report
aggregate information to our advertisers. We do not link IP addresses
to anything personally identifiable. In other words, a users
session will be logged, but the identity of the guest remains anonymous.
