The Magazine that Failure Built Celebrates Five Years of Foibles

Failure: a noun. Definition: lack of success. Synonyms: bankruptcy, botch, breakdown, bust, collapse, decay, decline, defeat, deficiency, deficit, deterioration, downfall, dud, false step, fiasco, flop, implosion, lead balloon, lemon, loser, loss, mess, misadventure, miscarriage, no go, rout, rupture, stalemate, stoppage, turkey, washout, wreck.

Phoenix, AZ —There are a lot of ways to say something has failed and for five years Failure magazine—the independently owned online magazine—has succeeded in doing just that. This month Failure (www.failuremag.com) celebrates its five-year anniversary with a new selection of stories on man's greatest challenge—failure.

Covering the frustrations, missteps, sinking ships and faux pas of mankind and machine in wonderfully excruciating detail, Failure has boldly gone where no periodical has gone before—into the belly of the mythological beast called "failure." To ask not just "how" but "why?"

"In a culture that craves success there is no subject more compelling than failure," says editor and CEO, Jason Zasky. "And there is no classroom like failure to teach us how to succeed and survive. Failure has and always will be a fascinating lesson worth learning."

Failuremag.com was launched in the summer of 2000 at the height of dot-com mania. A lot has changed since Internet and technology stocks went bust—but not Failure. Covering sports, history, science, entertainment and business—Failure reports on the bungles, the clunkers and the bombs with an analytical perspective that is both fresh and bold. Featuring the daily "Failure of the Day" and the "Book Report," Failure continues to present its unique take on its subject with a wide variety of stories from the past and present.

Zasky, former managing editor of Billboard's Musician magazine, has contributed to a diverse cross section of national magazines and Web sites including American Way, CDNow.com, Guitar World, Acoustic Guitar and Sportsform. Zasky's interview credits include Sheryl Crow, Metallica, Steve Wozniak and Malcolm Gladwell.

Says Zasky, "Every media outlet covers the subject of failure to one degree or another, but no publication has ever put it all in one place. Of course, we understand that failure is a loaded word, so for us approach is everything. We report, we analyze, we investigate, but unlike many other publications, we don't critique or make failure a personal issue."

Covering stories large and small, historical and current, Failure and its nationally recognized writers explore the world of arts & entertainment, business, science & technology, history, and sports with a bold perspective that is insightful, informative and entertaining.
